I’ve decided that now is a good time to post some early sketches of the new ship, which I imagine that many of you have been looking forward to. I am collaborating with two talented illustrators who are excited in designing a new Federation ship, particularly one that moves away from standard design. The first sketches are from Anthony Pugh.
I specifically asked my illustrators to take artistic liberties using my sketch as a starting point (I like experimentation). As a result, some of the designs may feel less “Federation” than we’re used to. This is the risk of extrapolating into the future…it has to look the same, yet different. And so much of the design aspects depend on the circumstances of that future. I’ll just say that the final version will look something like ship variation-2 (top).
