My sincerest thanks to everyone for your patience. Believe me when I say I’m doing everything that I can to get this site up and going quickly! In fact, my first novel will be posted here shortly (free of charge) in a series of chapter installments posted weekly. The tentative date for the opening of the book will be Friday, March 5th, 2010. Over the next several months, this blog will be entirely dedicated to that novel.
To get your appetite going, I will reveal certain details of the project. First, the novel will be a “re-imagining” (to quote Tim Burton) of the Star Trek series. Some of you may be skeptical by that description alone, and rightfully so, but for better or for worse I can think of no other way to describe it. To be sure, I strongly hesitated to begin my first book playing in someone else’s universe, but there was so much for me to say about the franchise I had grown to love that I simply caved. I literally let my fingers on the keyboard do the talking, and a Star Trek book came out. If you fans have room in your hearts for one more ship and crew, I think you will be invigorated by my take on Roddenberry’s universe.
Between now and the opening date of the novel on March 5th, I will add more posts giving additional details about my interpretation of Roddenberry’s universe, what inspired me to write the novel, and my reasons for thinking that for Star Trek to live on for another generation, the entire universe needs to be turned upside down.
