To my readers,
Well, there is exactly one week left before the release of the book (and we are still on track for that date), so I thought I’d take the opportunity to make a few comments.
First, I wanted to remind everyone that this is a non-profit work of fan fiction, and will be available for everyone to read free of charge. The prologue will be released on Friday, March 26th in its entirety, followed by the first chapter becoming available the following week, starting Tuesday, March 30th. Once it begins, the chapters will be fed a section at a time, at about a rate of one to two chapters a week (they become much shorter later on). All in all, it will take several months for the book to be available in its entirety.
I have also been experimenting with WPtouch and other plugins to make the book easy to read. So even if you are on the train with your iPhone, Android, or your (soon-to-be-available) iPad, you should be able to access the book in a very easy-to-read format. If anyone has suggestions or comments about the format of the book, please feel free to contact me. Also, the site itself will be going through reconstruction, so I apologize ahead of time if the look starts to jump around.
I realize that I haven’t mentioned anything about the characters yet, but I’ve created a unique bunch (at least, I think so) and part of the fun for you will be discovering them as you go through the book. At some point, I will include character bios for the website for everyone to enjoy. I am always looking for more artists and illustrators who would like to contribute their work based on what I’ve described in the book. My current illustrators are already hard at work bringing you the final look of the ship.
Beginning next Friday, I will probably disappear for a while, with the exception of the occasional news. After one final post next week, I will hold further commentary on Star Trek until the entire book is released. However, I will likely post illustrations as a visual guide as the story progresses. When it is finished, depending on the reception, I may decide to develop the project further, in which case, I will be looking for volunteers of all backgrounds to contribute in any way that they can.
Last, but not least, I hope you enjoy the story. If you do, please pass it on. If you don’t, I certainly welcome your comments and criticisms. All in all, it was a fun and rewarding experience for me, and I hope it is for you as the reader. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Calvin
