I created this website not only to promote my own work and ideas about Star Trek, but the work of others as well. I came across this new comic strip called Ensign Sue Must Die!, and I have to say, it’s pretty funny. It takes place on JJ Abram’s Enterprise and the only thing that’s different is that there is this Ensign Mary Sue character with fishnet stockings that’s running amuck on the ship. Her full name is Ensign Mary Amethyst Star Enoby Aiko Archer Picard Janeway Sue.
Prior to writing my own fan fiction, I had little idea of what a ‘Mary Sue’ was. But I could see how she could be incredibly annoying, and this comic manifests all of that literally in a single character. As you read it, you realize that the comic is able to make you love her and hate her at the same time. You can’t help but just want to hug Ensign Sue to death.
The visual pacing is well-done, the conversations are short and sweet, and the characters are very cutely drawn. The story is written by Clare Moseley and Kevin Bolk, and the comic is drawn by Kevin Bolk. I encourage all Star Trek fans to check it out!
